Jennifer Kauffman ist derzeit K-5 General Music-4/5 Chorus-Lehrerin in Anne Arundel County, gewählte Präsidentin von MMEA, Immediate Past President von MGMTA und Vertreterin des NAfME Council for General Music Education Eastern Division. 2015 wurde Jennifer während ihrer Lehrtätigkeit in Allegany County mit dem MMEA Award for Excellence in Teaching ausgezeichnet. Als Moderator, Gastdirigent. Chaperone, Juror auf lokaler, Bezirks-, Landes- und Ostebene und als MSDE MC3 Roster-Künstlerin hat ihr geholfen, sich des Potenzials aller Schüler und des Bestrebens bewusst zu werden, die Unterrichtsstrategien zu ändern, um die Bedürfnisse jedes Schülers zu erfüllen.

Dr. Brian Schneckenburger ist Supervisor für Musik und Tanz an den öffentlichen Schulen von Baltimore County. Derzeit ist er Präsident der Maryland Music Educators Association und Mitglied des Lenkungsausschusses für das Projekt Teaching with Primary Sources der National Association for Music Education. Brian unterrichtet außerdem als Lehrbeauftragter in der Abteilung für Musikpädagogik an der Towson University. Thomas Pierre ist ein vom National Board zertifizierter Musiklehrer in Prince George's County Public Schools. Carrie Barrett holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s of Music Education Degree from Towson University. She has taught 4th and 5th grade music in Baltimore County for the past 4 years. At her school, she fills the role of both the vocal general and the instrumental teacher and has an after school ukulele program . During the summer, she enjoys working at music camps and marching band camps.

Dr. Christopher M. Cicconi ist derzeit Direktor für Bands und Orchester und Assistenzprofessor für Musikpädagogik an der Towson University. Neben seiner Funktion als Musikdirektor der Towson Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra unterrichtet er Kurse in Dirigieren, Repertoire, Instrumentalmethoden/Pädagogik und betreut Lehramtsstudenten. Er ist ein aktiver Kliniker, Gastdirigent und Moderator in der gesamten Mid-Atlantic Region und fungiert als Musikdirektor des Hunt Valley Symphony Orchestra, der Young Victorian Theatre Company, des Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra (Konzertorchester) und des New England Music Camp Symphony Band (2. Sitzung).

Matthew Heist unterrichtet seit 17 Jahren Musik in Anne Arundel County und ist derzeit Leiter der Bands an der Broadneck High School in Annapolis, Maryland. Zu seinen Aufgaben bei Broadneck gehört die Leitung der Blasorchester, Marching Band, Jazzband und Percussion-Ensemble. Unter seiner Leitung haben die Konzertensembles, Jazzbands und Marschensembles von Herrn Heist auf Bezirks- und Landesfesten konstant überragende Bewertungen erhalten und sich einen Ruf für musikalische Exzellenz erworben. Matthew ist auch in der Maryland Music Educators Association aktiv und derzeit Präsident der Maryland Band Directors Association.

Dr. Edryn J. Coleman ist Chorleiter an der Oakland Mills High School in Howard County, Maryland, wo er Chor leitet und Klavier unterrichtet. Zuvor hat er an zwei Universitäten als Leiter der Choraktivitäten Musik im Grund-, Mittel- und Hochschulbereich unterrichtet. Zu seinem Verdienst hat er bis heute zahlreiche Gastdirigenten, Juroren und professionelle Präsentationen geführt. Der gebürtige Montgomery, Alabama, hat einen BA in Gesang vom Stillman College, einen MME von der Florida State University und einen DMA vom Shenandoah Conservatory of Music der Shenandoah University.

Toni Daniel ist ein langjähriger Befürworter und Unterstützer der Darstellenden Künste. Nach ihrem 18. Lebensjahr ist sie Direktorin für Choraktivitäten an der Parkside High School in Salisbury, Maryland. Während ihrer Amtszeit war Toni in verschiedenen Rollen für verschiedene Chorveranstaltungen und Organisationen tätig. Einige dieser Positionen sind: All-Shore Junior und Senior Chair, District V Junior Choral Festival Chair, District V Senior Choral Festival Chair und der Präsident der Eastern Shore Choral Association. Sie versteht den positiven Einfluss der darstellenden Künste auf das Leben eines Studenten – ein Ort der Akzeptanz und Zugehörigkeit.

AnneMarie Karnbach unterrichtet Orchester, Klavier und Gitarre an der Chopticon High School, wo sie vor 19 Jahren mit dem Orchesterprogramm begann. Sie genießt das Gastdirigieren und Jurieren. Sie hat einen BFA in Music Performance von IUP, wo sie auch vier Jahre lang mit der Johnstown Symphony auftrat. AnneMarie lebt derzeit mit ihrem Ehemann Chris in Hollywood, Maryland; ihre beiden Kinder, Christopher und Abby; drei Hunde, Murphy, Daisy und Holly; und Nora die Katze. Sie freut sich sehr, als gewählte Präsidentin bei MODA mitzuwirken!

Als aktive Lehrerin und Wertungsrichterin unterrichtet Frau Dana Shieh seit 28 Jahren. Derzeit ist sie Leiterin des Streichorchesters an der Bishop McNamara High School. Zuvor war sie Leiterin des Streichorchesters an der Thomas G. Pullen Arts Academy in Prince George's County. Frau Shieh hat einen Bachelor-Abschluss in Bratschendarbietung von der Columbus State University, einen Master-Abschluss in Musikpädagogik von der Florida State University und eine Suzuki-Zertifizierung vom Emory und Henry College. Frau Shieh war zuvor als Direktorin für das Summer Instrumental Music Experience an der University of Maryland tätig und hat landesweite All-State-, Solo- und Ensemble- sowie Orchesterfestivals beurteilt. Als Performerin hat Frau Shieh professionell mit dem National Philharmonic Orchestra und anderen Orchestern im DC-Gebiet gespielt.

Ashleigh Cicconi, M.Ed., MT-BC, hat einen Bachelor-Abschluss in Musiktherapie, einen Master-Abschluss in Pädagogik und schließt derzeit ihren Doktortitel in Bildungsführung ab. Sie hat als staatlich geprüfte Musiktherapeutin und Praktikumsbetreuerin gedient sowie ein originelles pädagogisches Musikprogramm entwickelt und implementiert. Ashleigh arbeitet derzeit an der McDonogh School als Lehrerin für Darstellende Künste an der unteren Schule, zusätzlich zur außerordentlichen Professorin an der Towson University, wo sie mehrere Musikausbildungs- und Musikspezialkurse unterrichtet.

Christie Cook ist die Supervisorin für Bildende und Darstellende Kunst an den öffentlichen Schulen von Calvert County. Sie verbrachte 14 Jahre im Klassenzimmer und unterrichtete Musikanerkennung und Orchester an den Northern und Windy Hill Middle Schools. Christie freut sich, MMEA in ihrer Rolle als MGMTA-Präsidentin bei der Förderung der Musikausbildung in Maryland zu unterstützen, indem sie eine herausragende berufliche Entwicklung für Lehrer anbietet und sich kontinuierlich für den Zugang zu hochwertiger Musikausbildung für Schüler jeden Alters einsetzt.

Laura Hicken ist Assistenzprofessorin für Musikpädagogik an der Towson University. Sie unterrichtet Musikpädagogikkurse für Bachelor- und Masterstudiengänge und ist Dozentensponsor für das Collegiate NAfME Chapter. Hicken erwarb ihren Ph.D. in Musik und Human Learning an der University of Texas at Austin, ihren Master of Music Education an der UNC-Greensboro und ihren Bachelor of Music Education an der Furman University. Vor seiner Lehrtätigkeit bei Towson unterrichtete Hicken Band und allgemeine Musik in South Carolina und Florida.

Dr. Anderson , Assistenzprofessor und Koordinator für Musikausbildung an der Salisbury University, MD, hat 30 Jahre Erfahrung im Musikunterricht an PK-12-Schulen. Ihre Schwerpunkte sind allgemeine Musik der Sekundarstufe, Chormusikpädagogik, Lehrplanerstellung, Ukulele-Unterricht und Musiktechnologie. Ihr Engagement für den Dienst wurde mit dem Service Award der Fulton School of the Humanities belohnt. Außerdem spielt sie verschiedene Instrumente und singt mit Diana Wagner, ebenfalls SU-Professorin.

Amy T. Hairston, MMEA President-Elect, is in her 18th year as a choral/general music and theatre teacher in Maryland (Springbrook HS). She is a proud alumnus of Oakland Mills HS & UMD. Amy has been a music clinician and adjudicator for Calvert, Baltimore, Montgomery and Howard County, and has presented for MMEA, NJMEA and the Maryland Arts Summit. She also enjoys educational advocacy, vocal coaching for musicals and coaching Springbrook’s JV Girls Soccer team.

Diesen Sommer trat sie dem MCEA Board als Professional Development Liaison bei. Sie war als Musikklinik und Jurorin für Howard, Montgomery, Baltimore und Calvert County tätig und präsentiert gerne bei MMEA In-Services.
Krystal Williams

Krystal Williams ist derzeit Banddirektorin an der Western High School for Girls in Baltimore, MD. Frau Williams besuchte von 1999 bis 2005 die Morgan State University als Bachelor Music Major. Nach ihrem BA in Instrumentalmusik setzte sie ihre Ausbildung in Dirigieren fort und war Graduate Assistant für das Morgan State Band Program. Frau Williams hat auch einen MA in Lehramt des College of Notre Dame Maryland. Sie ist seit 14 Jahren Musiklehrerin an den Baltimore City Public Schools. Derzeit lebt sie mit ihrem Ehemann Dwight und ihrem Sohn Matthew in Windsor Mill, MD.

Composer and Conductor Dr. Jorim Reid, Sr. is an Assistant Professor, Director of Bands & Instrumental Music Coordinator at Morgan State University. He previously served as Director of Bands at Fayetteville State University (2015-2021) and North Carolina Central University (2000-2014). Reid has a Bachelor’s in Music Education degree from Florida A & M University, a Master’s of Music Education degree from Florida State University, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree (DMA) from Boston University.

Rheya Ford - Salisbury University

Rheya Ford is currently in her third year at Salisbury University as a student. She has been heavily involved in their music program and has taken part in several vocal ensembles, including University Chorale, Opera Workshop, and Musical Theatre Workshop. She is also the Treasurer for the student-run a capella group Larum Voces. Rheya was recently awarded the Otello Meucci Memorial Music Education Scholarship by the music faculty at SU for her "exceptional promise in musicianship". During the Fall-Spring seasons, she balances college and work, and is now excited to add their new position as Collegiate Representative to that mix. She thanks her advisor and fellow board member, Dr. Louise Anderson, for the opportunity.

Kellie Harvey, NBCT, has been musically inspiring students in Wicomico County since 2014. Named 2020 Fruitland Primary Teacher of the Year and 2022 MMEA Outstanding Music Educator, Kellie has developed and implemented an arts integration curriculum, mentored new and current teachers, and received numerous grant awards. Within her community, Kellie shares her music skills by performing in local ensembles and teaching private lessons. She is a graduate of Seton Hill University and University of Florida.

Richard A. Er wurde 2013 mit dem TI:ME Mike Kovins Teacher of the Year Award, dem Howard County Music Educator of the Year Award 2013 und dem Maryland Outstanding Music Educator Award 2014 ausgezeichnet. Außerdem wurde er 2017 von School Band and Orchestra als einer ihrer „50 Directors Who Make A Difference“ ausgezeichnet und war 2015 Halbfinalist des Grammy Music Educator Award.

​Celia Croft - Carroll County

Celia is an elementary vocal/general music teacher in Carroll County. She was born and raised in Maryland, and is a second-generation music teacher. She is part of her county’s equity leadership team, and recently obtained her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction for social justice from Loyola University Maryland. She has been a guest clinician for Baltimore County Public Schools, and participated in the Anti-Racist Educators of the Arts Learning Lab through the MSDE. She is passionate about the role of education in the liberation of future generations.

Meghan Owens is currently in her seventh year of teaching and holding the band director position at North East High School in Cecil County, MD. She teaches concert band, guitar, humanities, marching band, and jazz band. As a Cecil County and North East native, Meghan is excited to represent her hometown as a member of the MMEA board. She is looking forward to fulfilling the new role of Finance and Advancement Chair!

Judy has worked in the music industry for more years than many of you have been born...stores in Wichita, Anaheim, Wheaton MD, Gaithersburg, MD and now Indiana. Why I do what I do is because I know the importance of arts and music as a necessary part of education. I was raised by 2 musicians...Dad had a big band and was with the Wichita Symphony, Mom was his singer. I was around music my whole life. With a group from NAMM we go on The Hill almost every year to advocate for music education...working with elected officials and their educational staff. I have work with arts supervisors, band directors, etc...and will do all that I can to help their programs. The importance of this work makes my life complete.

Chan’nel Williams Howard was born in Baltimore City and is a proud product of the Baltimore City Public Schools. She is a proud graduate of Western High School. Chan’nel received her bachelor’s degree from Frostburg State University, her Master’s degree from University of Phoenix, and is in pursuit of her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration from Walden University.
Chan’nel heralds her greatest accomplishment as being a mom. She has three beautiful children Jonathan, Benjamin, and Aubree and a host of “band children” from her over 12 years as a band director at Northeast Middle School.
Chan’nel has proudly served Baltimore City Public Schools for 22 years where the bulk of her work was as a middle school band director and as Coordinator of Fine Arts since 2017.
Cheryl Terwilliger - Montgomery County (Private School)

Cheryl Terwilliger has been teaching at Bullis School since 1998. She is the Director of Arts, a member of the senior administrative team, and leader of the Bullis Jazz program. She is a graduate of Princeton University and the Eastman School of Music. A trumpeter, Cheryl has been a performer and horn arranger with the Chopteeth Afrofunk Big Band since 2004, and freelances with other groups in the Washington, D.C. area.
Dr. Louise L. Anderson - Salisbury University

Dr. Anderson, an Assistant Professor and the Coordinator for Music Education at Salisbury University, MD, has 30 years of experience teaching music in PK-12 schools. Her focus areas are secondary general music, choral music education, curriculum writing, ukulele instruction, and music technology. Her commitment to service was rewarded with the Service Award for the Fulton School of the Humanities. She also performs a variety of instruments and sings with Diana Wagner, also an SU professor.
Laura Allison - Baltimore County

Laura Allison has been teaching music in Baltimore County Public Schools for 16 years. She has worked at a separate public day school for students with exceptionalities, ages 3-21, and an elementary school with a large regional special education program. Laura has her BME in Music Education from WV Wesleyan College and a MS in Special Education from Johns Hopkins University. Last year, she was a recipient of an MMEA Outstanding Educator Award.
Phil Barnes - Montgomery County
State Large Ensemble Festivals Chair

Phil Barnes has served as the Coordinator of Instrumental Music & Theatre for Montgomery County Public Schools since 2020. In this role, he supports over 200 teachers across the nation's 15th largest school district. In 2023, MCPS was named one of America’s Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation. Before moving into administration, Phil spent 17 years teaching instrumental music, choral music, piano, guitar, music theory, music history, music technology, and music for special learners at the middle and high school levels. He is a proud product of the Maryland music education system, having attended Wicomico County Public Schools and the University of Maryland.

Sarah Burrall - Queen Anne's County

Soprano Sarah Burrall is currently in her 8th year of teaching at Matapeake Middle School in Queen Anne’s County. She teaches Choral Music, Music & Theatre Arts, and acts as the Musical Production director. She has been able to cultivate thriving choral and musical programs. Outside of teaching, Sarah has lent her vocal talents to several non-profit organizations. Sarah received her bachelor's from Salisbury University in 2015 and her master's in Music Education from Kent State University in 2022.

Walter A. Harley is in his 27th year as Chairman, Director of Bands and Orchestra at Oxon Hill High School. Oxon Hill bands/orchestra have received Superior and Excellent ratings at local, state, and national music festivals. Walter awards are Band Director of the Year 2008, LOVE Award 2009, 2012; Prince Georges’ County Teacher of the Year 2000, PGCPS Outstanding Educator of the Year 2010, 2011, 2012; The Washington Post Agnes Myer Outstanding Educator of the Year 2012, and NBA Citation of Excellence 2011, 2012 and 2016.
Richard McCready - Howard County

Richard A McCready teaches Music Technology, Piano, and Guitar, at River Hill High School in Clarksville, Maryland, and is also the Resource Teacher for Music Technology for Howard County, MD. Anthony has been Executive Director for MMEA since July 1, 2022. Prior to his appointment, he came to MMEA with over a decade of service to the Board, as well as over two decades of experience as a music educator and arts administrator. His primary background is in instrumental music, as well as experience in choral music. He was the Director of Fine Arts and Director of Bands & Orchestra at Bishop McNamara H.S. in Forestville, Maryland. He earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Music in Music Education and Conducting, from the University of Maryland, as well as a graduate certificate in Executive Leadership in Arts and Culture Strategy from the University of Pennsylvania and National Arts Strategies. He is currently also the Artistic Director and Conductor for the D.C.’s Different Drummer’s Symphonic Band, in Washington D.C. He has an extensive background with non-profit organizations and a wealth of experience working with teams, event coordination, fundraising, and budget management. Anthony was born, raised and currently lives in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
